THE BALL – Nadal wins the 91st career title in Acapulco (Tennis)

Fifteen victories and three titles. That sums up the best start to the season for Rafael Nadal, 35, after being out of competition for six months with a serious right foot injury.

The Mallorcan, winner of 21 Grand Slam titles, won the ATP 500 in Acapulco (Mexico), in what was his fourth title in the competition, after 2005, 2013 and 2020, and his 91st in singles.

In a balanced, albeit resolved, straight-sets final, Nadal defeated Briton Cameron Norrie, world No. 12, 6-4, 6-4 after nearly two hours.

Nadal now heads to Indian Wells (USA) unbeaten in 2022.
