Europa League: Sporting de Braga eliminates Sheriff and reaches the round of 16

Sporting de Braga qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa League on Thursday, beating Sheriff 3-2 on penalties after a 2-0 draw after extra time that tied the defeat suffered in Moldova.

Iuri Medeiros, in the 17th minute, and Ricardo Horta, in the 43rd minute, forced the draw, in which the Moldovans missed three kicks, two saved by Matheus, and the Braga only two.

The ‘arsenalistas’, who have reached 100 Europa League goals (since 2009/10, without qualifying rounds), are in the ‘eighth’ for the third time, repeating 2010/11 and 2015/16, having never been disadvantaged by two goals, in 10 attempts.

The draw for the next phase of the Europa League, in which FC Porto will also be present, takes place this Friday at 11:00 a.m. and will be played on March 10 and 17.
