Pokémon Scarlet and Violet travel to the Iberian Peninsula in 2022

Two more new Pokémon games are coming to Nintendo Switch later this year.

Moving on to gameplay footage, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet pick up the aesthetics of Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield and appear to continue what Game Freak did with Pokémon Legend: Arceus, featuring a more open world with wild creatures roaming the nature.

The producer hasn’t revealed many details yet, like in which part of the world the new region is inspired, but the community already seems to have found some clues, indicating that the Pokémon this time will come very close to us, from the Iberian Peninsula. .

In the trailer, we can see some real-world inspired points of interest, such as a Sagrada Familia-inspired complex or a map, in one of the scenarios, very similar to the Portuguese coast. Plus, we also have the names of three adorable starters that evoke Latin names: Sprigatito Herb Cat, Fuecoco Fire Crocodile, and Quaxly Water Duckling.

Also note that these are the first Pokémon games to use colors in the name since Black and White 2, which could mean something special and even new. But we’ll know more later in 2022, when it’s released on Nintendo Switch.
