Are there any rumors that Twitter is adding the “Podcasts” tab in the mobile app?

(Pocket-lint) – Could Twitter release a podcasts tab on its mobile app in the near future?

That’s what Jane Manchun Wong – a security researcher identified on the Forbe 30 Under 30 Social Media 2022 list – revealed via a Tweet (how’s that for harmony?).

This is precisely his job. As Forbes puts it:[Wong] amassed a dedicated Twitter fan base by discovering previously announced features on apps like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook through their intense digital detective work.

This font certainly lends greater legitimacy to the claim – an image you can see in the screenshot of the embedded Tweet above, showing a new podcasts/microphone shortcut symbol at the bottom of the Twitter app.

Interestingly, the screenshot posted lacks the Twitter Spaces shortcut symbol, which could be a clue as to where this feature is headed. Spaces already has live content, of course, so will all sounds, including podcasts, be available through this new portal?

We’ll have to wait and see what, if anything, happens to Twitter’s mobile platforms in the near future. It’s an ever-evolving platform that has incorporated more tools over the years, so getting into podcasting really makes sense.
