Chapecó already has 51 dengue cases in 2022, 155% more than the 20 cases in the same period last year. That is why the Chapecó Health Department is carrying out a series of actions to combat the Aedes aegypti mosquito. However, the head of health surveillance, Rodrigo Momoli, stresses that the population must collaborate, especially at this time, by eliminating stagnant water points.
Chapecó presents itself as a municipality considered infested by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito since 2014, in 2021 we recorded 1407 outbreaks with an increase of 89% compared to 2020, a high risk infestation. In 2021, we recorded 66 cases. According to the environmental surveillance coordinator, Karina Giachini, we have seen an increase in dengue fever cases in the municipality of Chapecó since the second half of February.
Of the 51 cases registered, 28 are patients residing in the Eldorado neighborhood and 11 in Efapi, three Vila Real (epidemics) and the others distributed in different neighborhoods (Bom Pastor, Universitário, Centro, Santo Antônio, Universitário and Cristo Rei). In view of the situation, the Environmental Surveillance team continues to intensify vector control actions and transmission blockages, with joint efforts on Saturdays, daily door-to-door visits to all suspected patients and homes. neighboring areas, carrying out inspections, eliminating breeding sites, treatments with larvicides in swimming pools, water tanks, cisterns and other deposits, providing guidelines and giving conditions of adequacy, notification when irregular situations are verified, the collection of tires, the sealing of high deposits (water tanks and open cisterns), in addition to fortnightly visits to Strategic Points for the follow-up with chemical and biological treatment of all non-eliminable outbreaks.
Environmental monitoring and state surveillance also proceeded to apply ULV “smoke” in all areas with positive dengue fever cases to control viral transmission. Intensification of health education actions in schools, sound car in the streets with guidance to the population, use of the drone to identify warehouses that are difficult to access, processing of complaints and requests from the population, these are already 1,486 calls this year by the team. Last Saturday alone there were 241 visits to Passo dos Fortes, 68 visits to Líder and Vila Real and 236 visits to Efapi, with 839 deposits eliminated.
This week an insecticide, the fog, will be applied in the neighborhoods of Passo dos Fortes, Centro, Jardim Itália, Eldorado and Vila Real. “We ask at this time of alert that the municipality lives that the population is sensitized and does its part, by receiving endemic agents and health workers in their homes, follow the directives requested, inspect and eliminate all possible breeding places for the mosquito .your terrace, from the correct disposal to the garbage. Be alert to signs and symptoms, use repellents daily, and see a doctor if you have symptoms,” Karina said.
