Ukrainian kickboxing champion dies in Russian bombings

Yevhen Zvonok, 22, had enlisted in the army

Yevhen Zvonok, Ukrainian kickboxing champion, died on the 3rd following the Russian bombardments of the city of Chernigov, local press announced on Tuesday. The 22-year-old athlete had joined the army and his body was only found on Monday, in the rubble of a school hit by a bomb. “He was starting his sports career, last year he was second in the Kickboxing World Cup and Ukrainian champion. We were preparing international competitions and at the end of March he should participate in the Ukrainian championship in Odessa”, declared his friend and coach. Sergey Lysyuk, quoted by ‘Suspilne’.
