Despite having been suspended from all UEFA and FIFA competitions, the Russian national team continues to prepare for the future and has renewed its coach, Valery Karpin.
The information was revealed by the local federation on Thursday, and Karpin is extending his contract until the end of 2022, when the Qatar World Cup will end – at this time, Russia cannot be present.
Karpin took over as Russia coach in July 2021, a position he combined with Rostov coach until August 2021.
Russia has qualified for the 2022 World Cup play-off, which will take place in March, but with the Suspension from FIFA and UEFAfollowing the invasion of Ukraine, is forbidden to challenge it.
