The number of confirmed dengue fever cases in Minas Gerais this year has more than doubled in just three weeks. There were 1,932 new confirmed notifications in the state, according to data from the epidemiological bulletin published this Wednesday (9), which represents an increase of almost 150%. Since the beginning of the year to date, 3,221 people have been infected with the disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Until February 15, there was 1,289.
In Minas, a person he is dead by complications of the disease. He is a resident of Espinosa, in the North region. According to the Ministry of Health (SES-MG) this Thursday (10), there are still six more deaths under investigation.
Regarding chikungunya fever, transmitted by the same vector, the file points to 518 probable cases, including 54 confirmed. Already 1 person has been affected by zika, which has 13 probable cases, three of which are confirmed. So far, there are no deaths related to the two diseases.
To fight against diseases, the measures are the same and essentially consist of eliminating mosquito breeding sites, especially where rainwater is retained, such as drains, gutters, plant pots and tires.
Considering that the life cycle of Aedes lasts an average of seven days, cleaning should be done at least twice a week.
