THE BALL – “I’ve already missed scoring…” (Europa League)

More than three months after scoring his last goal – on November 30, at home against Vizela – Abel Ruiz has found his way back to goal. The Spaniard opened the scoring in SC Braga’s 2-0 win over Monaco in the Europa League Round of 16 first leg.

“I’ve already missed scoring, that’s normal. To get it today, in front of our fans… it’s incredible”, he let go, in ecstasy, he who even missed a penalty in the decision of the previous round, against Sheriff: “Yes. These are things that are part of football: one day you can miss a penalty and then you can score an important goal. I am a striker, I like to score goals. And this was important for me, to gain confidence and look to the future.

Despite the triumph, the striker is aware that there is still a lot to solve in the encounter. “Nothing is decided. A game is missing there, it will be as difficult as this one. We will have to be at 100% to pass the tie. We had a very good game against a great team like Monaco, full of good players and very competent. 2-0 seems fair to me,” he told SportTV.
