THE BALL – Sérgio Oliveira beat José Mourinho and was sent off (League Conference)

Roma traveled to Gelredome Stadium, Arnhem, Netherlands, to beat Vitesse 1-0 in the first leg of the Conference League Round of 16, Portugal’s Sérgio Oliveira scoring the goal.

In what was the first meeting in history between these teams, Vitesse ended up surprising Roma in the first half with a strong attacking flow, Rui Patrício being a giant between the posts.

It was just after the break for the break that Roma scored, in the first shot on goal, following a corner, the ball left Zaniolo and the Portuguese, with his left foot, inside the box, did not did not ask permission and opened the marker, against the flow of play.

In the second half, José Mourinho made three substitutions at once and Roma dominated the game, again with Vitesse looking for the goal, with Openda still the most dangerous man for Rui Patrício’s goal.

In the 79th minute, José Mourinho saw his team reduced to ten, with the expulsion of Sérgio Oliveira, who received the second yellow card after a foul on Wittek. Until the final whistle, the Italian team enjoyed chills, Mourinho strengthened the defense with the entry of Smalling, and they took the pressure as they could.

Roma therefore have the advantage, with the return leg at home scheduled for the 17th.
