BOLA – Benfica B defeat Académica in a crazy game (Liga 2)

More emotion and spectacular… it was impossible!

Benfica B beat Académica, 4-3, in a match of the 26th day of Liga 2, played at the end of the afternoon this Friday, at the Estádio Cidade in Coimbra.

João Resende, the great highlight of the eagles, opened the asset, in the 36th minute, corresponding in the best way to an assist from Tiago Gouveia. The young red spearhead’s goal, which made its debut this season, took the lead over António Oliveira’s men at half-time.

Académica, extremely short of points to try to avoid relegation to Liga 3, appeared transfigured after the break, and in four minutes went around the text: João Carlos, in the 49th minute, gave the best follow-up to a cross from the right from Traquina and shot from the draw, and it was precisely Briosa’s top scorer (he is the top scorer in Liga 2, now with 15 accurate shots), to confirm the turnaround, in the 53rd minute: header by David Sualehe, cut from Pedro Álvaro over the line, but the ball ended up bouncing off Léo Kokubo, who was on the ground, and João Carlos, on the tip of the spear, made it 2-1 .

But the game was really frenetic and the youngsters in red regained the advantage: Martim Neto, in the 66th minute, fired on a difficult intervention by Vladimir Stojkovic and, on the rebound, João Resende scored the 2-2, also completing the double, the roles were reversed soon after, as it was João Resende who assisted Martim Neto for the 2-3.

Briosa didn’t throw in the towel and even managed to equalize, in the 88th minute, with Mauro Caballero, after an assist from Fábio Fortes, with a left-footed cross for a superb goal.

And if the goal of the Paraguayan striker of the students was of high artistic quality, what about the goal of Tiago Gouveia, at 90 + 5 minutes: the Benfica winger, taking advantage of a badly measured exit from Vladimir Stojkovic, shot down in an arc, standing left, near the edge of the box, driving the ball into the top right corner of the keeper’s goal. A goal to see… and to see again, and which ensured the victory of the eagles.

With this defeat, Académica remains at the bottom of the standings, with 15 points, while Benfica B temporarily climbs to 2nd place, with 50 points.

In the next round, Briosa will play in the stronghold of Nacional (Sunday 20, at 11 a.m.), and the Reds will host Leixões (also Sunday 20, but at 2 p.m.).
