Corona: ‘I got on the plane to Sevilla and said ‘thank God’”

Signed in January from FC Porto, Jesus Corona admits that he wanted to sign in Sevilla “for some time now”.

“I was very emotional to get here and when I got on the plane I was like, ‘Anyway, thank God. My family saw in my face that we had succeeded. It was the first step”, he said, in an interview with Mark.

“When they [Sevilha] they insisted that I was flattered and working harder and harder. It pushed me because I knew I had this responsibility, that they would come and get me,” he added.

The Mexican international believes that he has evolved since his arrival in Spain and admits to having been “better supervised”.

“I came to Sevilla a bit more mature. I also have personal goals, I try to go further in my efforts, to give more assists, more goals, to try to help the team”, he explained, before to reveal what tasks Julen Lopetegui asks him to do.

“He asks me more defensively, to close the spaces. We work so as not to suffer, that’s the most important thing, ”he said.

The coach, with whom he worked on the Dragons, was even one of the main reasons for signing for the Andalusian emblem.

“First, there was the coach who knew me and spoke to him, and secondly, I wanted to come to this League, I had the objective, like a dream, to play here. It’s very competitive, with a lot of quality, in my opinion it has always been the best championship in the world”, he justified.

Corona also regretted episodes of violence in Mexican football, but confessed his desire to play for Monterrey in the future.

Since arriving in Sevilla, in the winter window, Tecatito has already played 11 games, having distributed two assists.
