Officers from the Zoonosis Control Center will visit Aurora Park in the coming days
The Zoonoses Control Center (ZCC) continues the series of efforts to control the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits dengue fever, zika and chikungunya. This Tuesday (15), about 90 agents were working in the district of Travessão, and among them 20 were directed to the fight against rodents. Last week, the works were carried out in the Nova Brasilia district.
Collective efforts are taking place in neighborhoods and districts where the highest rates were recorded in the Aedes aegypti Rapid Index Survey (LIRAa). In Travessão, the record was 8%, one of the highest. In the municipality, the average is 5.4, which according to the director of the CCZ, Carlos Morales, is considered high.
Morales explains that the index is of infestation and not of infected people. “We are concerned about the situation, so we are prioritizing neighborhoods with the highest LIRAa index. We were at Parque Nova Brasília and today it’s the turn of the Travessão neighborhood. Next week we will be at Parque Aurora. In general, Campos has a mosquito breeding rate of 5.4% and not people infected with dengue fever. The contamination rate is very low, so we are carrying out this work in a preventive way, so that there is no dengue fever epidemic in the future”, he specifies.
In Travessão, in addition to the motofog, a team with a coastal pump, which has a directed jet, was also used. The fight against rodents, in addition to abandoned houses, land and buildings, was carried out in schools and businesses.
