A joint fight against the Aedes aegypti mosquito is carried out in the district of Vila Matias, in rock, starting this Wednesday (16). A mapping carried out in the neighborhood identified 13 mosquito breeding sites that transmit dengue fever, zika and chikungunya.
According to the director of epidemiological surveillance of rock, Jamila Peixoto, the outbreaks were discovered within the past two weeks. The rainy season further increases the risk of proliferation.
“Our criterion for defining the neighborhood that will receive the collective effort is the number of breeding sites found, in this neighborhood we have found 13 homes in the last two weeks,” Jamila said.
According to the director, there is a schedule for the working group, which takes place in one neighborhood at a time. The number of households in the neighborhood is analyzed and priority is given to the region with the most.
The joint efforts continue until July. In actions, community health and endemic agents work by raising awareness and in finding and extinguishing epidemics in homes and streets.
