World Kidney Day will be celebrated by the Senate during a special session scheduled for Monday at 10 a.m. (2 p.m.). Presented by Senator Mara Gabrilli (PSDB-SP), the request was signed by other senators and approved by the plenary last Tuesday (8). The ceremony will be broadcast live on TV channel Senate on YouTube.

According to Mara Gabrilli, the ceremony is important not only to recall the importance of kidney health, but also to give visibility to kidney disease and draw the attention of authorities and society to the serious financial crisis facing the sector. of nephrology has faced in recent years. .

“There is an urgent need to invest in the sector and to offer quality and accessible treatment to all patients with chronic kidney disease”, warns the parliamentarian in the application.

During the deliberative session on Thursday (10), Senator Paulo Paim (PT-RS), who also signed the request for the extraordinary session, recalled that World Kidney Day, celebrated every second Thursday of March, was created by the International Society of Nephrology to promote a global campaign for kidney health. The parliamentarian said he knew the seriousness of the disease because he had a relative with the problem.
