iRobot releases Genius 4.0 Home Intelligence

iRobot announces that it has begun making the iRobot Genius 4.0 Home Intelligence software update available to customers with Wi-Fi connected Roomba robot vacuums and the Braava jet robot mop. The company continues its mission to design superior cleaning experiences that go beyond smarts. iRobot Genius 4.0 is the next step in transforming the smart home into a more personalized home.

iRobot Genius 4.0 includes updates that deliver powerful new features along with customization and convenience features such as Room Cleaning Preferences, Siri Shortcuts integration, Child and Pet Lock and Ne not disturb. The update also expands the list of objects that the j-series Roomba recognizes and avoids including clothes and towels.

“The beauty of iRobot Genius is that our robots get smarter over time and continue to continually provide customers with new ways to clean where, when and how they clean at home,” says Keith Hartsfield, iRobot Product Manager. . “As iRobot develops new features and experiences, updates are made available to robot customers at no additional cost. From the day a customer receives a Roomba robot vacuum or Braava robot mop in their home, they know they will always benefit from new features and functionality.

“Customers are also given a robot that does more work for them and prevents them from doing so. With over 60 million personalized recommendations made available to customers to date, our bots have proven to learn, respect and work on each consumer’s schedule and individual needs.

The iRobot Genius 4.0 update makes these new smart, voice-based, and in-app mapping features available to all iRobot Wi-Fi connected robots:

  • Clean each division as desired: Each person’s home is unique, with individual rooms that vary in size, floor type, furniture, and level of movement. That’s why smart mapping bot users have more control over how their bots clean with Division Cleaning Preferences. Do you need Roomba to make an extra pass at the entrance where shoes are left and to make cleaning in other rooms faster? No problem. Do you want your Braava jet m6 to spend more time cleaning in the kitchen but not as much in the hallway? It also becomes possible.
  • Use Siri to clean – anywhere: With around 600 commands supported by Alexa and Google Assistant, robots that can be programmed to clean specific rooms using your voice, and the only robots that can be tasked with cleaning specific areas, such as around the counter of cooking, iRobot will expand its leadership in the voice capabilities market now includes Siri. Ultimately, customers should have options when it comes to communicating verbally with their bot, and with Siri integration, that’s possible too. Similar to Alexa or Google Assistant shortcuts in the iRobot Home app, owners of Wi-Fi connected Roomba robot vacuums and Braava robot mops using an iOS device will now have the option to connect their robot to Siri in the app. iRobot Home. Do you want to vacuum your whole house? Set up your own custom phrase and just say “Hey Siri, ask Roomba to clean everywhere”.
  • End of accidental cleaning starts – Has your pet ever accidentally turned on your robot? Or maybe a curious child accidentally found and pressed the “Clean” button on the robot? Addressed issue with Child and Pet Lock through the iRobot Home app, an option that temporarily disables the physical “Clean” button on Wi-Fi connected Roomba and Braava Jet robots. Once enabled, robots are controlled through the app iRobot Home, eliminating the need to quickly end any accidental cleaning.
  • Never get distracted or wake up: iRobot’s commitment to never wake people or pets. With the functionality Do not disturb, customers can use the iRobot Home app to set time slots when the robot should not operate, either because someone is sleeping or in a meeting. The Do Not Disturb feature provides peace of mind that your robot will respect the quiet times in your life. This feature is being rolled out to all customers globally.
  • Less cleaning before cleaning: Having already avoided 3 million objects in homes since the feature launched last year, the Roomba j7 and j7+ will also begin to detect and avoid clothes and towels on the floor, allowing consumers to be sure that the cleaning will be done even without having to be removed from the floor. These new objects expand the visual vocabulary that Roomba j7 and j7+ already recognize and avoid shoes, socks, wires and earphones with wires or even solid animal waste. iRobot will continue to work to allow the Roomba j7 series to identify and avoid even more objects that could prevent cleaning from completing.

All iRobot Genius 4.0 software updates will be available worldwide for Wi-Fi connected Roomba and Braava customers by the end of June 2022, with the exception of Do Not Disturb which is now available in the whole world.
