From this Friday (18) to 24 March, a medical school in Campinas will hold free assessments for patients with sleep disorders.

The services are part of the special service campaign for Sleep Week, a national event, organized by the Brazilian Sleep Association.

The consultations will be carried out by the MedMandic Clinic, of the São Leopoldo Mandic College. According to the establishment, the first 50 patients will receive a free initial clinical evaluation, on dates to be defined according to the schedules available at the clinic.

“Anyone aged 10 or over who has a sleep-related complaint or difficulty, such as insomnia, excessive daytime sleepiness, snoring/sleep apnea, restlessness during sleep, difficulty adjusting on the night shift, sleepwalking, etc.”, explained the institution.

Interested parties should contact MedMandic Clinic by phone or WhatsApp (19) 3731-7250 and leave their contact details.

“It is estimated that half of the population has one or more sleep-related complaints, the most common of which are snoring and apnea, which affect one-third of the adult population, and insomnia, which data shows one in 10 individuals has difficulty initiating or maintaining your sleep,” explained Dr. Paulo Mei, clinical neurologist, sleep physician, and university professor.

According to the specialist, “poor quality sleep leads to the appearance or aggravation of diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus and obesity, in addition to presenting an increased risk of occurrence of myocardial infarction, stroke and dementia”.
