A 46-year-old woman discovered advanced stage cancer months after seeking help. The doctor who saw her said she was fat and needed to lose weight. The case took place in cuiabaMato Grosso.
According to the patient, she went to a health clinic after feeling severe pain in her right breast. The first medical consultation took place in 2019. Three months later she was diagnosed with cancer and is still undergoing treatment today. She has already removed both breasts.
According to Edileny Mayre de Oliveira, at the health unit, the medical professional said it was just fat and the woman had nothing to worry about.
The doctor ordered an ultrasound and a mammogram and asked why she was having this exam. The patient explained to him that she was in a lot of pain. After the examination, according to Edileny, the professional said that in fact it was fat and that she had nothing to worry about, because the lump would disappear.
Edileny took the result and took it to another doctor, who also said it was big and nothing. However, she asked for surgery to be scheduled even though it was in a private hospital because she didn’t want to have that lump and the doctor said he didn’t recommend it because she would have a very large scar. and gave him some medicine to take.
“I came home and over time my breasts grew a lot and started to hurt and I even lost movement in my right arm,” she says.
She returned to the health center three months later and the doctor referred her to the cancer hospital, when she was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer.
“I started radiotherapy and had to stop again to remove the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovary. And when I left the hospital, I had to come back the next day to the last radiotherapy. I had the operation and I started the chemotherapy at the seventh session, another nodule appeared in the left breast. And then I stopped the chemotherapy”, he says.
She made a video asking for financial help to do the second biopsy. The biopsy result showed that the cancer had already spread to other organs.
He also states that he will seek compensation due to misdiagnosis, but has not yet filed a complaint.
