The main range of smartphones from Xiaomi recently received three new products, Xiaomi 12X, Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 In this video I show the main details of the simplest model of the three, the Xiaomi 12X. Check out the specs and my first impressions of the phone below.

The big difference between the devices is the processor used, the Xiaomi 12X is the only one of the three to bring the Snapdragon 870, the other two big brothers bring the best Qualcomm processor today, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, manufactured in 4 nanometers. Despite the difference in processor, all the devices bring compatibility to the 5G network.
Xiaomi 12X: Snapdragon 870
Xiaomi 12: Qualcomm SM8450 Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (4nm)
Xiaomi 12 Pro: Qualcomm SM8450 Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (4nm)
There is also a difference in the graphics chip:
Xiaomi 12X: Adreno 650
Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro: Adreno 730

screen and design
Regarding the design, the phone is available in black, blue and purple / pink. The version we received for testing is the pink version and it has a very nice reflection effect. Another detail about the mobile phone that is worth mentioning is its size, it is small compared to the average size of devices in the market.
All versions come with excellent screen quality including screen saver, high refresh rate and high brightness.
Xiaomi 12x: 6.28″, with Gorilla Glass Victus, OLED, 1B colors, 120Hz, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, 1100 nits (peak)
Xiaomi 12: 6.28″, with Gorilla Glass Victus, OLED, 1B colors, 120Hz, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, 1100 nits (peak)
Xiaomi 12 Pro: 6.73″, with Gorilla Glass Victus, LTPO AMOLED, 1B colors, 120Hz, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, 1000 nits (HBM), 1500 nits (peak)
As usual, Xiaomi brings the main additional features, leaving almost none out. The only item that might be missing is the headphone jack. Other than that, they all have an NFC, infrared, in-screen fingerprint scanner, as well as Dolby Atmos.
All models are available in the options below:
- 128GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 12GB RAM (UFS 3.1)
Regarding the operating system, Xiaomi has implemented MIUI 13 which does not have great features and keeps ads. And even though these ads can be turned off, if the user has to “fix” the delivered product, it doesn’t work well.
It’s extremely invasive, always has been, and now it’s even worse. When you lock the screen of your device, you get indications of the content of the 92 application. This is all the more harmful when it comes to personalizing your device, it is invasive.
And even if you disable mobile ads options, this option still appears because it works with a separate app called 92-Take your Story.

I even searched on my own how to turn it off but couldn’t find the option on my own, it was just looking in the comments on the app page that I found the answer . With the screen locked, just go to the bottom left, on a flower icon and swipe right. Then go to the upper right corner, unlock the phone and turn off the “Wallpaper Carousel” option.
Another strong point is the charging speed, the charger brings 67W, which guarantees a full charge just before an hour of duration in the socket. Discover our tests below:
10 mins – 34%
30 mins – 78%
1 hour – 100% just before one hour
This is a good result and the above-market-average charging speed is undoubtedly important for everyday life. With half an hour of charging you already get more than half charge and it’s ready for at least a day of use.
As for the performance, it was very close to the POCO F3, a mobile phone with the same graphics chip and the same processor.
AnTuTu performance test results:
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra (Exynos 2100): 755462
POCO F3 (Qualcomm Snapdragon 870): 652733
Xiaomi 12X (Qualcomm Snapdragon 870): 652073
Galaxy S20 FE (Qualcomm Snapdragon 865): 646507
The set of cameras is really interesting even in the simplest models, which share the same cameras. The Xiaomi 12 pro is equipped with three 50MP cameras.
Xiaomi 12x and Xiaomi 12 rear cameras:
Xiaomi 12 Pro rear cameras:
About Macro Camera:
The 5MP macro camera managed to take good photos and justifies its presence on the mobile phone, unlike when there is a macro camera on the device, but it does not have enough quality to take photos .
2MP type cameras are extremely inefficient, as in the POCO M4 Pro. This choice of manufacturers is directly linked to marketing, which is very detrimental to consumers, especially laymen. This is because the person may be enticed to buy a device by seeing more cameras on the back, which is not a guarantee of better quality.
The consumer pays for the addition of a “dead camera”, which is there but not able to perform its function.
Below you see a brief comparison between the camera of the two mobile phones.
main camera photos
The set of cameras does its job well, manages to bring a good balance of colors and brightness, in addition to bringing the option of wide-angle photos.
The selfie camera is 32MP and it performed well in normal mode, maintaining good balance even in situations where portrait mode was popping.
Another point that may be of interest to some people is recording up to 8K. However, this mode requires HEVC codec playback and can only capture a maximum of 6 minutes per clip.
Genshim Impact: It can run at the highest quality and at 60 frames per second, but it can sometimes exhibit jerks in more demanding scenarios. To obtain more fluidity, the ideal is to reduce certain details of the graphic quality, but by keeping a high resolution.
Asphalt 9: It ran well in the highest quality.
COD Mobile: It worked smoothly with the highest quality.
