New York prioritizes gays for monkeypox vaccination

Written by admin

After Britain’s Health Safety Agency on Tuesday recommended vaccinating gay and bisexual men in an attempt to control the monkeypox outbreak, it was the New York Department of Health’s turn on Thursday to adopt the measure.

The city administration stressed that anyone can catch and spread smallpox, however, men from the LGBT+ community have been the majority of those infected during the current outbreak of the disease. Therefore, it made eligible for the vaccine homosexuals, bisexuals and men who have sex with men (cisgender or transgender), aged 18 and over, who have had multiple sexual partners in the past 14 days.
