From August 15, a weekly collection will be at the end of establishing how many poles remain to be filled in Quebec schools, announces the Ministry of Education to the school network in a communication transmission at the start of the week.
Data on the shortage of teachers, daycare educators, special education technicians, speech therapists and psychologists will be collected.

The Federation of Teachers’ Unions (FSE-CSQ) is delighted with this initiative, even if Quebec was slow to put it in place, according to its vice-president, Brigitte Bilodeau. “To finish! Better late than never,” she said.
“If you are able to do effective work on the shortage and make the right decisions to fix the problem, at the very least, you have to have the right data,” added M.me Bilodeau.
The latter recalls that at the start of its mandate, the Legault government refused to recognize that there was a shortage in Quebec schools, limiting itself to speaking of “scarcity” of labor in certain regions.
However, the situation has worsened in recent years since the number of non-legally qualified teachers has tripled in five years.
In June, the Ministère de l’Éducation awarded a contract to coordinate the committee responsible for finding short-term solutions to counter the shortage of personnel in the school network.
In September last year, the Ministry of Education reported that 247 full-time teaching positions remained unfilled in Quebec, plus that number excluded hundreds of part-time contracts that still had not found an entrepreneur.
