Third in the Belgian championship, Club Brugge is preparing a difficult trip to Standard de Liège, scheduled for this Sunday (5:30 p.m.). And in the preview of the match, coach Carl Hoefkens denied that the euphoria of victory against FC Porto (4-0), in the Champions League, could have a negative effect.
“We will now have a different challenge, in a stadium that usually has a complicated environment. After the game against FC Porto I’m not afraid, I think my players managed to change the chip and they will rise to the occasion,” he told reporters.
Asked to comment on the effusive reaction to goals at the Estádio do Dragão, Hoefkens tried to play down the drama.
“Am I going to do the same on Sunday? Not. But I think there was too much emphasis on something that I’ve been doing all season. If during the 4-0 it was more noticeable? It’s normal, but I wouldn’t do anything different,” he concluded.
